In a suo moto application addressing stubble burning and its impact on air pollution in Punjab and Haryana, the four member Tribunal, headed by chairperson Prakash Shrivastava directed both states to create a time-bound action plan from 01-01-2024 to 01-09-2024.
The tribunal observed that, despite a marginal decrease in paddy burning incidents, pollution remains a serious issue. The tribunal suggested sensitizing cultivators, creating a database of farm owners, and involving experts and farmer unions in finding solutions. The states were instructed to start preparing a comprehensive plan for 2024
