According to a notification from the Ministry of Law and Justice, following the retirement of the current Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court, Justice Sanjib Banerjee, on November 1, 2023, the President of India has exercised the power conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution. In light of this, Justice Hamarsan Singh Thangkhiew, who is currently a Judge of the Meghalaya High Court, has been appointed as the Acting Chief Justice, effective from November 2, 2023.
